Who We Are
Founded in 1987, the West Irondequoit Foundation (WIF) is a not-for-profit organization to receive gifts, bequests and donations in order to provide funding to enhance the educational programs of the West Irondequoit Central School District (WICSD). It raises funds to underwrite teacher-initiated grants for projects, equipment and programs. Through a strong annual campaign and a variety of fundraising activities, the WIF has granted more than $1 million to the WICSD since it first awarded grants in 1990. Foundation Board
These individuals volunteer their time and energies, which are rooted in a deep pride and abiding commitment to WICSD.
They rely entirely on the support of alumni, businesses and the community to carry out the WIF's endeavors in support of educational excellence and peak performance throughout West Irondequoit schools.
For many years, a golf tournament was a key fundraiser/social event for the WIF. That was replaced by a Cornhole Tournament that saw 32 teams compete in 2018 and 48 teams in 2019 after the event moved beneath the big tent at Camp Eastman. After a COVID hiatus, it returned in 2022 at a terrific turf venue, the Irondequoit Sports Center.
The Foundation's largest fundraising effort happened in 2003. The highly successful Windows Project, a unique public art project in which artists transformed vintage wood windows removed from IHS during renovations into works of art, raised more than $77,000 for WIF’s Endowment Fund.
